Mary Troy is the author of six books of fiction–four collections of short stories and two novels:  In The Sky Lord, Swimming on Hwy N ,  Beauties, Cookie Lily,  The Alibi Cafe and other storiesand Joe Baker Is Dead. She has won the Lyon College Leila Lenore Heasley Prize as a “distinguished representative of American and international letters,” the USA Book award for literary fiction, the Devil’s  Kitchen Reading Award, a Nelson Algren award, a William Rockhill Nelson award, and more. Mary has published dozens and dozens of short stories in Story, Boulevard, The Chicago Tribune, The Arkansas Review, River Styx, New letters, and more; her stories and essays have been anthologized in The Abiko Quarterly, In The Middle of The Middle West, Under the Arch, Women In The Arts, American Fiction, Echo Ink, and Honolulu Stories. Her books have been reviewed widely and well, including in the New York Times Sunday Book Review. For more twenty-four years, Mary taught in the MFA Program at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.  For ten years she was the editor of Natural Bridgea journal of contemporary literature Mary has won the University of Missouri system award for leadership, and the MO Governor’s award for excellence in teaching.
